AICEE (All India Common Entrance Examination)

All India Common Entrance Examination (AICEE) is conducted by the Veterinary Council of India, for admission to first year Bachelor of Veterinary Science (BVSc) & Animal Husbandry (AH) degree course.

The Veterinary Council of India is a statutory body of the Government of India framed under an Act of Parliament i.e. Indian Veterinary Council Act, 1984 (52 of 1984). This is an Act to regulate Veterinary practice and Veterinary education in India. The Act stands extended to all the States of India except Tamil Nadu and J&K as on date. Only those who possess recognised veterinary qualification and registered can practice in the country.

The duration of BVSc & AH degree course is spread over five complete academic years including a compulsory rotating internship of six months.

Eligibility

Educational Qualification : Candidate must have passed the Higher Secondary Examination or the Indian School Certificate Examination equivalent to 10+2 (after a period of 12 years of study), the last two years of study with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and any other elective subject with English at a level not less than the core course for English as prescribed by the National Council of Education Research and Training (NCERT) or equivalent qualification as prescribed in the Veterinary Council of India for the Minimum Standards of Veterinary Education - Degree Course (B.V.Sc. & A.H) regulations, 1993.

To be eligible for appearing in All India Common Entrance Examination (AICEE) examination, the candidates must have passed the qualifying examination with a minimum of 50% (40% for SC/ST candidates) marks in aggregate in English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

Candidates appearing in the 12th class examination under 10+2 system or equivalent examination and awaiting the results, in the year of admission are also eligible to apply.

Age Limit: Not less than 17 years as on December of the year of admission are eligible.

Application Procedure

Veterinary Council of India conducts the 'All India Common Entrance Examination' for filling up of 15% of the total number of seats of each Veterinary colleges of all States where the Indian Veterinary Council Act, 1984 extends. This entrance exam is usually held in the month of May each year. An advertisement to the effect would appear in leading newspapers and employment news. The entrance exam is of three and a half hour duration, syllabus being physics, chemistry, biology and English of the Class XII level. The question paper is in the form of multiple-choice options.

The information bulletin and application form can be obtained on payment of requisite amount including examination fee, handling and other charges through a Bank Draft drawn in favour of Veterinary Council of India payable at New Delhi on the State Bank of India or any other Scheduled Bank.

The request should be accompanied by two plain paper slips with complete address and pin-code of the candidate and a self-addressed unstamped envelope of 24 cms x 18 cms. Cash/Money Order or any other form of payment will not be accepted.

Candidates residing in Andaman & Nicobar Union Territory can also get the information bulletin and application form from the Registrar, Andaman & Nicobar Veterinary Council, Andaman & Nicobar Admn, Directorate of Animal Husbandry, Veterinary Science, PB No 2, Port Blair 744102.

The last date for submission of filled in application forms will be usually in the month of February/ March. For candidate belonging to Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep and Ladakh region of Jammu & Kashmir, the last date for request of applications and receipt of completed forms shall be 15 days later than dates mentioned as last date of submission of application.
