The Central Board of Secondary Education has told Delhi High Court that over 1,600 people had surfed the websites where the leaked Class XII physics question paper was uploaded.

A bench headed by Acting Chief Justice B D Ahmed, which is hearing a PIL seeking re-examination in the subject across the country and not just Manipur, took note of the reply of Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and asked it to further probe the case.

The CBSE said certain websites that uploaded the leaked question paper got over 1,600 hits, of which 500 were from Delhi and only 16 from Manipur.

The bench has asked the CBSE to report to it by April 16 whether these netizens should take a re-examination.

The PIL said the CBSE had admitted that the question paper was leaked and circulated on the Internet and sold for a very minor consideration of Rs 3,000 to Rs 5,000.
