Dubai, September 11, 2025 – In a significant step toward enhancing educational opportunities for the Indian diaspora, India’s Union Minister of Education, Dharmendra Pradhan, revealed plans for the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to introduce an international school in the UAE. The announcement, made during the minister’s ongoing two-day visit to the region, underscores the deepening ties between India and the UAE in the realm of schooling and skill development.
Speaking at a series of engagements including interactions with CBSE school principals and the inauguration of the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad’s Dubai campus, Pradhan highlighted the strategic importance of this move. "With over 100 CBSE-affiliated institutions already thriving in the UAE, serving more than 270,000 Indian students, this new international school will further bridge educational gaps and promote high-quality learning aligned with global standards," he stated. The initiative aims to cater to the growing expatriate community, offering a curriculum that blends India’s rigorous academic framework with UAE’s multicultural ethos.
This development builds on recent milestones, such as the establishment of CBSE’s Regional Office and Centre of Excellence in Dubai last year, which has boosted support for existing schools through enhanced training and administrative aid. During his visit, Pradhan also launched Atal Tinkering Labs in select Indian schools and participated in a Teachers’ Day event, emphasizing innovation and hands-on education. UAE officials, including Minister of Higher Education Dr. Abdulrahman Al Awar, welcomed the proposal, noting it aligns with bilateral goals to foster knowledge exchange and prepare youth for a competitive job market.
Education experts view the new school as a catalyst for greater accessibility, potentially easing challenges like curriculum alignment and exam processes for NRI families. As India-UAE relations flourish—marked by projects like the IIT Delhi-Abu Dhabi campus—this expansion signals a promising era for cross-border academic collaboration.
