Students of all CBSE schools in the city will not have to brave the surge of rallyists on Wednesday. Nearly all schools, barring four Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs), have decided to shut down because of the BJP mahakumbh. Even the district administration, which cannot order closure, has instructed school management committees of government schools to take a call on declaring a holiday.

The Sahodaya Group of CBSE schools, Bhopal, had issued an advisory to CBSE schools to remain shut on Wednesday, said Sahodaya president and principal P S Kalra.

"We declare holidays on orders from the district administration or the KV Sangathan (KVS). Since there is no intimation, the school will be open. No such discussion was held with KVs regarding the closing down schools on Wednesday. Students will not face problems in early hours. Also, students will get over by 12 after SA-1, so they should be comfortably home by the time the rally starts," she said.

District education officer (DEO) C M Upadhyay, who had earlier told TOI that a decision would be taken based on the ground situation, said on Tuesday "government schools are free to take a decision in consultation with school management committees. If they feel, students will be at risk, they can declare a holiday. However, teachers would still have to come."
