The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), will introduce a new course in theater studies for class XI from the new session.
The subject will be introduced in the CBSE affiliated schools on the first come first serve basis. This new subject can be offered as elective
one with three other elective subjects along with English Language. The theory paper will carry 70 marks along with a case study project and
viva carrying 30 marks.
The education experts have said that the subject will offer new learning and open opportunities for students. It will teach the students
teamwork, management, communication and expression.
The course has been offered, to enlarge career options for the students. Vineet Joshi, chairperson, CBSE said, "Theater is one of the
strongest mediums of expression we have. It is as old as mankind and has manifested itself in countless forms all over the world."
