The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has extended the window period to conduct SA-II examination 2013-14 for Classes IX and XI for Assessment of Speaking and Listening Skills (ASL) from 30 January 2014 to 15 February 2014, said a recently released circular at CBSE’s academic website.

The online version of ASL will be made available on CBSEs website from 6 February to 15 February 2014. Please make note that the online version now will not be available from 21 January to 5 February.

Believing that good communication skills improve and raise the self-esteem of a student, CBSE essentially desires that the students acquire proficiency in it by the time they leave portals of the schools. Hence, the CBSE in 2012 had introduced the Assessment of Speaking and Listening Skills as a part Summative Assessment for Classes IX and XI, in order to make the language and oral testing in schools at par with international testing standards.
