CBSE has extended date of PSA for submission of online details to Dec 15

November 28, 2013, 12:45 pm

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has extended the date for the submission of details to improve in problem solving assessment (PSA) for Class 10 and 12 from November 15 to December 15.

RJ Khanderao, CBSE regional head, Panchkula, said, "Several schools have requested the board to extend the date. School authorities say more students are interested to improve their score in the problem solving assessment. So, we have extended the date to December 15."

The board has decided to conduct the PSA for Class 10 and 12 on January 18, 2014, along with the Classes 9 and 11 candidates.

The objective of the PSA is to assess the abilities of the students in analysing the given life situations, to comprehend and interpret the written text and other essential higher-order thinking skills.

The CBSE-PSA score will be counted as the result for formative assessment (FA-4), which is 10% of the total assessments of Class 9. This assessment will also be carried forward for the FA-4 in Class 10.

This score will be calculated with the assessment of one language (English or Hindi), mathematics, science and social science, with effect from the session 2012-13 for Class 9 and from 2013-14 for Class 10. The same score will be reflected in FA-4 for Classes 9 and 10.

With this, students will have the option to improve their PSA score in Class 10, as they can sit for the test with Class 9 students during the exams for 2013-14. The best scores will be reflected in the final certificate in case of those applying for improvement.

Accordingly, in order to reiterate its decision for considering the best score, the schools are requested that if a candidate wishes to improve performance in PSA in Classes 10 and 12, he may opt for the same along with online list of candidates for Classes 10 and 12 for academic session 2013-14 by paying Rs. 100 per candidate.
