The Ministry of Education, Government of India, has announced that the Central Sector Scheme of Scholarship for College and University Students (PM-USP CSSS) will be continued for the academic year 2023-24. The scheme provides financial assistance to meritorious students from economically weaker sections to pursue higher education in colleges and universities.
A total of 82,000 scholarships will be awarded under the scheme, with 50% of the scholarships reserved for girls. The scholarships will be awarded on the basis of the results of the Higher Secondary / Class 12 Board Examination.
To be eligible for the scholarship, students must have scored above the 80th percentile in the relevant stream from the respective Board of Examination in Class 12 of 10+2 pattern or equivalent. They must also be pursuing a graduate or postgraduate degree in a recognized college or university in India.
The scholarship amount is ₹12,000 per annum for undergraduate students and ₹20,000 per annum for postgraduate students. The scholarship is awarded for the first three years of the course.
Students can apply for the scholarship online through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP). The last date for submission of online application form for renewal and fresh scholarship 2023-24 is December 31, 2023.
The Central Sector Scheme of Scholarship for College and University Students is a welcome initiative by the Government of India. It will help to make higher education more accessible to meritorious students from economically weaker sections.
