The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Monday again requested parents to ascertain that schools in which their wards are taking admission are affiliated to it.

"We got complaints that a school located at a prime location of the city like AG Square has been running classes by putting up boards claiming to have CBSE affiliation but does not have the permission. We inspected the school, but it was locked and there was nobody to answer any question. We verified that the school does not have an affiliation from CBSE. So it is our duty to caution parents to be alert and cross-check the school’s affiliation from the official website of CBSE," said A S Verma, regional director, CBSE, Bhubaneswar region.

It is mandatory for a school to have Classes IX and X to qualify for CBSE affiliation. The Central Boards regional officer AS Verma said there have been instances of schools running classes upto VIII but claiming to have CBSE affiliation. It is done to deceive students and their parents, he added.
