Dearest Peeyush,
I hope you and your family are in good health and great spirits. We all are doing well and have adjusted well in our new house within just three weeks.
You must be surprised at how fast we have adjusted here but when you come here and see for yourself, the greenery and open spaces around the locality, you will understand that it is sheer bliss to live here. Our locality has lush green and well maintained lawns, a golf course, a badminton court and even a lawn tennis court. Our neighbours too comprise of decent, educated people and it is a pleasure to interact with them. I would like to invite you to visit us soon. Our locality is situated just about two kilometres away from Model School, Noida. Once you reach this school you will be able to locate our place easily.
Awaiting your early visit. Give my due regards to your parents and love to your brother Amit.
Yours Lovingly
Mohit

Q.4. Recently the headline, ‘Girl Refuses Marriage As Boy’s Parents Demand Dowry’, caught your attention. This bold step by a girl is a lesson for greedy boys and their parents. Write an article in about 80 words on the topic, ‘Dowry, a curse’. 8

Ans. Dowry, A Curse
It is most unfortunate that a stigma like the Dowry System is still prevalent in our country. But on the brighter side girls are now standing up boldly to teach a lesson to the greedy boys and their parents. Recently a girl refused to get married as the boy’s parents were demanding dowry. This is one novel way of freeing the modern society of the social stigma of dowry system. We have to get together and stand up boldly so as to teach a lesson of a lifetime to the greedy dowry-seekers.

Roads are becoming death traps because people don’t obey the traffi c rules. It is the duty of all to observe the following rules :
Scooterists/motor cyclists – to wear helmets
Motorists – to use seat-belts, not to exceed speed limits
Children – not to play on the road
Pedestrians – to use zebra crossings
Bus users – never to board/alight from a moving bus
Taking these ideas together with your own ideas, write a paragraph in about 80 words, on the topic, ‘Obey Traffi c Rules’.

Ans. Obey Traffi c Rules
Vehicular traffi c is increasing and roads are becoming death traps because people do not follow the traffi c rules. It is the duty of each one of us to adhere to certain rules when we are on the road. Scooterists and motor cyclists need to wear helmets for their own safety. People driving cars should use seat-belts and not exceed the specifi ed speed limits. The bus-users should never board or alight from a moving bus. Pedestrians too must use zebra crossings to cross the road. Children should not play on the roads. If we decide to obey the traffi c rules, we can make life a lot easier and safer for all on the road.

Q.5. On your way to the park for a morning walk, you saw a water-tanker hitting a school van and injuring four children. Write a brief report in about 60 words, mentioning the details of the accident. 4

Ans. My morning walk turned out to be a real nightmare. The driver of a water-tanker lost control over the vehicle and hit a school van. Four children were injured of which two were seriously hurt. The driver of the water-tanker wanted to fl ee from the site of the accident but was prevented from doing so by the passers-by. The injured children were rushed to the hospital. Yet another case of grievious injury due to sheer negligence.
