The peasants came like swarms of flies
and buzzed the name of God a hundred times
to paralyze the Evil One.

Ans. (a) The Scorpion is referred to as the Evil One because his sting had resulted in poison being spread in the mother‘s blood.
(b) The peasants wished that he might be paralysed because they felt that with every movement the Scorpion made, his poison moved in the mother’s blood.
(c) Through these lines we come to know that the peasants were a group of superstitious people.
