**Example 7.** In the given figure,

Find the value of x and y.

**Solution:-** Here ABCD is a cyclic quadrilateral

Or, 2x + 4

^{0}+ 4y - 4^{0}= 180^{0}Or, 2x + 4y = 180

^{0}Or, x + 2y = 90

^{0}----------------------------(i)Also,

Or, x + 10

^{0}+ 5y + 5^{0}= 180^{0}Or, x + 5y = 180

^{0}- 15^{0}Or, x + 5y = 165

^{0}--------------------(ii)Subtracting (i) from (ii) we get

(x + 5y) - (x + 2y) = 165

^{0}- 90^{0}3y = 75

^{0}from (i) x + 2 X 25

^{0}= 90^{0}x = 90

^{0}- 50^{0}= 40^{0}
