Introduction of CBSE syllabus opposed

Scores of teachers led by MLC P Laxmana Rao staged a sit-in at the Collectorate here protesting the introduction of the CBSE syllabus in Andhra Pradesh schools, police said Saturday.

The protest held on Friday was followed by police custody of a large number of teachers to prevent further agitation, they said.

Opposing the CBSE syllabus, MLC Laxmana Rao said that the state SSc course was sound enough to get a record number of 1900 boys and girls from AP to the IITs, which testifies that it is useful.

He however,supported introduction of English medium in government and quasi-government schools in AP in the current academic year.

Meanwhile, some teachers association flayed the introduction of both English medium and the CBSE syllabus. However, an overwhelm ing majority of parents want both.
