NEET UG Exam 2019

Eligibility: 1. Eligibility to appear in NEET (UG) - 2019

Eligibility for appearing in NEET (UG) is as stipulated in Indian Medical Council Act-1956 and the Dentists Act-1948 as amended in 2018.

Eligibility as per related Regulations is as follows:-

i. He/she has completed age of 17 years at the time of admission or will complete that age on or before 31st December of the year of his/her admission to the 1st year MBBS/BDS Course.

ii. The upper age limit for NEET (UG) is 25 years as on the date of examination with relaxation of 5 years for the candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC category and persons entitled for reservation under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016.

The Age criteria for appearing in NEET (UG) - 2019 is as follows:

For Candidates of Unreserved Category (UR): born on or between 05.05.1994 and 31.12.2002
For Candidates of SC/ST/OBC/PwD Category: born on or between 05.05.1989 and 31.12.2002

2. Eligibility for seats under the control of States/Deemed Universities/Central Universities/ESIC and AFMC including Delhi University (DU), BHU & AMU/central pool quota

i. Indian Nationals, Non Resident Indians (NRIs), Overseas Citizen of India (OCI), Persons with Indian Origin (PIO) and Foreign Nationals are eligible for admission in Medical/Dental Colleges subject to rules and regulations framed by the respective State Governments, Institutions and the
Government of India as the case may be.

ii. Foreign nationals may confirm their eligibility from the concerned Medical/Dental College/State.

3. Eligibility for 15% All India Quota seats

a) Indian Nationals, Non Resident Indians (NRIs), Overseas Citizen of India (OCI), Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) and Foreign Nationals are eligible for 15% All India Quota Seats.

b) Candidates from State of J & K
i. Students from State of J & K are not eligible for 15% All India Quota seats as State of J&K has opted out of All India Scheme since its inception. If they claim eligibility, they must submit online Self Declaration which will be generated and printed automatically alongwith confirmation page for the record and to present the same during counselling. The Self-Declaration Form is given in Appendix III.

ii. The online Self Declaration of the candidates will be verified at the time of counselling and if found to be false at any time, the candidature/admission of such candidates shall be cancelled and criminal proceedings may be initiated against such candidates.

iii. Candidates from the State of J & K can appear in NEET (UG) for admission to Private Medical/Dental Colleges or any Private/Deemed University and Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC), Pune subject to the fulfilment of eligibility conditions.


4. Qualifications and Qualifying Examination Codes

CODE 01 : A candidate who is appearing in the qualifying examination, i.e., 12th Standard in 2019, whose result is awaited, may apply and take up the said test but he/she shall not be eligible for admission to the MBBS or BDS, if he/she does not pass the qualifying examination with the required pass percentage of marks at the time of first round of Counselling.

CODE 02 : The Higher/Senior Secondary Examination or the Indian School Certificate Examination which is equivalent to 10+2 Higher/Senior Secondary Examination after a period of 12 years study, the last two years of such study comprising of Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Bio-technology (which shall include practical tests in these subjects) and Mathematics or any other elective subject with English at a level not less than the core course for English as prescribed by the National Council of Educational Research and Training after introduction of the 10+2+3 educational structure as recommended by the National Committee on Education.

Candidates who have passed 10+2 from Open School or as private candidates shall not be eligible to appear for ‘National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test’. Furthermore, study of Biology/Biotechnology as an Additional Subject at 10+2 level also shall not be permissible.

The proviso in italics has been subject matter of challenge before the Hon’ble High Court of Delhi, Hon’ble High Court of Allahabad, Lucknow Bench and Hon’ble High Court of Madhya Pradesh at Jabalpur. The provisions of the regulations disqualifying recognised Open School Board candidates and the candidates who have studied Biology/Biotechnology as an additional Subject has been struck down.

“The Medical Council of India has preferred Special Leave Petitions before the Hon’ble Supreme Court and Appeals in the Hon’ble High Courts. Therefore, the candidatures of candidates in the NEET (UG)-2019 who have passed the qualifying examinations i.e. 10+2 from National Institute of Open Schooling or State Open Schools or as private candidates from recognised State Boards; or with Biology/Biotechnology as additional subject shall be allowed but subject to the outcome of Special Leave Petitions/Appeals filed by the Medical Council of India”

CODE 03 : The Intermediate/Pre-degree Examination in Science of an Indian University/Board or other recognised examining body with Physics, Chemistry, Biology /Bio-technology (which shall include practical test in these subjects) and also English as a compulsory subject.

OR
CODE 04 : The Pre-professional/Pre-medical Examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Bio-technology & English after passing either the Higher Secondary Examination or the Pre-University or an
equivalent examination. The Pre-professional/Pre-medical examination shall include practical tests in these subjects and also English as a compulsory subject.

OR
CODE 05 : The first year of the three years’ degree course of a recognised University with Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Bio-technology including practical tests in these subjects provided the examination
is a University Examination and candidate has passed the earlier qualifying examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/ Biotechnology with English at a level not less than a core course.

OR
CODE 06 : B.Sc. Examination of an Indian University provided that he/she has passed the B.Sc. Examination with not less than two of the subjects Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Botany, Zoology)/Bio-technology and further that he/ she has passed the earlier qualifying examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English.

OR
CODE 07 : Any other examination which in scope and standard (Last 02 years of 10+2 Study comprising of Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Biotechnology; which shall include practical test in these subjects) is
found to be equivalent to the Intermediate Science Examination of an Indian University/Board, taking Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Bio-technology including practical tests in each of these
subjects and English.


Provided that to be eligible for NEET (UG) - 2019, candidate must have passed any of the qualifying examinations as enumerated above or appearing in the qualifying examination in 2019. Provided also that to be eligible for NEET (UG) - 2019, the candidate must have passed in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Bio-technology and English individually and must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Bio-technology at the qualifying examination as mentioned in clause (2) of Regulation 4 on Graduate Medical Education Regulations, 1997 as amended in 2018 and in addition must have come in the merit list of NEET (UG) - 2019 for admission to MBBS/BDS Courses.



Application Procedure: A candidate can apply for the NEET (UG) - 2019 only on-line by logging on to www.ntaneet.nic.in.

Before submission of application form, make the following preparations:

• The information desired to be filled in the Online Application such as names of Father/Mother and Candidate with correct spellings, Aadhaar Number (last 4 digits)/Election Card (EPIC No.)/Passport number/Ration Card Number/ Bank Account Number/Other valid Govt. Identity Card Number, Date of Birth, Address, Mobile Number, email id, etc. may be kept ready. For more details about the information to be filled in, candidates may go to link “Replica of Application- 2019” on the website.

The candidates have to provide any one of the identity details as given below:

For Indian Nationals of all States Candidates: Aadhaar Number (last 4 digits), Election Card (EPIC No.), Ration Card Number, Bank Account Number, Passport Number or Number of any other Identity Card issued by Government is permissible IDs

NRIs Candidates: Passport Number, Aadhaar Number (last 4 digits) is permissible IDs

Foreign Nationals/ OCI/PIO Candidates: Passport Number is permissible IDs


• Candidate should have scanned images of his/her latest Photograph (size of 10 kb to 200 kb) and Signature (size of 4 kb to 30 kb) in JPG/ JPEG format only, for uploading as part of submission of online application.

Method of Fee Payment:

• Payment using appropriate mode: After completing Step 2 of online Application Form, candidates may remit the examination fee (Step 3) by choosing the Online Mode i.e. Debit/Credit card and Net Banking or Cash Deposit through e-challan.

• Print the Confirmation Page (Step-4) of online application after completion of Step-3 i.e. payment through Debit/Credit card/ Net Banking/Cash Deposit through e-challan.

• If candidate fails to complete all the steps upto step 4, the final Submission of Online Application will remain incomplete and unsuccessful.

• Generation of Confirmation Page confirms final submission of Application Form. If Confirmation Page has not been generated, this means that Application Form has not been submitted successfully.


Fee Payable by Unreserved & Other Backward Classes (OBC) candidates- Rs. 1400/-

Fee Payable by SC/ST/PwD/Transgender candidates- Rs. 750/-

Service/Processing charges & GST are to be paid by the candidate, as applicable

The National Testing Agency will conduct the NEET (UG) - 2019, evaluate the Answer Sheets and the result will be hosted on website www.ntaneet.nic.in. The NTA will prepare the merit list as per the directives of DGHS, MCI and DCI.

Admission: An All India Merit List of the qualified candidates shall be prepared on the basis of All India Rank in the Merit List of the NEET (UG) - 2019 and candidates shall be admitted to MBBS/BDS Courses from the said list only by following the already existing reservation policy. NTA will provide All India Rank. Admitting Authorities will invite applications for counselling and merit list shall be drawn based on All India Rank by the Admitting Authorities. Admission to MBBS/BDS Courses within the respective categories shall be based solely on All India Rank as per merit list of NEET (UG) - 2019.
