A Special World
A special world for you and me
A special bond one cannot see
It wraps us up in its cocoon
And holds us fiercely in its womb.
Its fingers spread like fine spun gold
Gently nestling us to the fold
Like silken thread it holds us fast
Bonds like this are meant to last.
And though at times a thread may break
A new one forms in its wake
To bind us closer and keep us strong
In a special world, where we belong.
I have always thought of Christmas time, when it has
come round, as a good time; a kind, forgiving,
charitable time; the only time I know of, in the long
calendar of the year, when men and women seem by one
consent to open their shut-up hearts freely, and to
think of people below them as if they really were
fellow passengers to the grave, and not another race of
creatures bound on other journeys.
Once again we find ourselves enmeshed in the Holiday
Season, that very special time of year when we join
with our loved ones in sharing centuries-old traditions
such as trying to find a parking space at the mall. We
traditionally do this in my family by driving around
the parking lot until we see a shopper emerge from the
mall, then we follow her, in very much the same spirit
as the Three Wise Men, who 2,000 years ago followed a
star, week after week, until it led them to a parking
