Chemical Engineering @ Dayananda Sagar College
Department of Chemical Engineering is one of the old Departments in the college, and it was started in year 1982 with 30 intakes, which have been increased to 60 in 2007. Also M.Tech was started in the same year. The department is accredited twice by NBA, once for 5 years. Department is recognized research center under VTU to pursue M.Sc. (Engg by Res) and PhD.
The department has well qualified both, experienced and young faculty who have graduated from reputed institutions like NITK. The faculty as well as students take pride themselves in continually evolving in to well-rounded personalities.
Under UKIERI (United Kingdom-India Educational and Research Initiative, sponsored by British Council) a joint collaboration program on “Health and Safety” many faculty from Dundee College, Scotland visited the department and delivered classes. Faculty with industry experts from Shell, G.E, and government officials from Karnataka State Fire and Safety delivered lectures on the topics Electric Safety, Fire Safety, Behavioral Safety, MSDS, Chemical Safety, Food Safety and Bio Safety. Four faculties from the department visited Dundee College, Scotland and also participated in the Global Gathering, attended by faculty from more than 15 countries.
It regularly conducts FDP, workshops, invited lectures, industry visits and other co and extracurricular activities. Under the aegis of ChEA, Chemical Engineering Association department organizes various technical activities like paper presentation, quiz, collage, debate, essay etc. The national level symposium “Chemovation” is celebrated inviting students to present their work. Annual newsletter “Catalica” of the department features articles on recent technological advances and is also a forum for students to showcase their talents.

Students willing to study Chemical Engineering at Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering Bangalore should possess the prerequisite eligibility criteria which have been stated below:
• They should pass 10+2 or equivalent examination in the first attempt with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as mandatory subjects.
• They should score 45 % marks aggregate in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology/ Computer science/ Electronic in their 10+2 or equivalent qualifying examination.

They should also appear for the entrance exams conducted by Karnataka Examination Authority i.e. Common Entrance Test (CET), or COMEDK UGET which is conducted every year by the Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of the state for Karnataka as well as non-Karnataka students.

• CHEMOVATION: National level students’ symposium held biennially. CHEMOVATION’14 was conducted on 28th & 29th March, 2014.
• ENERGIA: Energy modeling & competition was held in the department on 1st April, 2015.
• Best Outgoing Student Award 2014-2015: awarded by IIChE, BRC for outstanding performance, Shreyas Pathreeker.
• SCHOLARSHIPS: “Mr. H. Srinivas Rao and Mrs. Kamalamma Scholarships” for needy students on Merit cum means basis
