Location
BMS College of Engineering is located in the heart of Bangalore. BMSCE is about 5km from the Central Railway station. The campus is set on a sprawling 15 acres giving students every opportunity for academics and sports.
About Department
The Department of Civil Engineering was one of the three branches started when BMS College of Engineering was established in 1946. In the past seven decades, the department has seen a lot of progress in academics, research and consultancy. In the year 2008, the UG program was accorded academic autonomy status by VTU which enabled us to have our own curriculum to enhance knowledge, skills and attitudes in students.
The department boasts of three PG courses namely Construction Technology, Environmental Engineering and Transportation Engineering and Management. In addition, the department is recognized as a research center by VTU and as a QIP center by MHRD, which has changed the status of the department from primarily UG department to the research-based learning center.
The students are molded with multi-dimensional skill sets covering all the required graduate attributes. More focus is emphasized on practical learning, projects, and research. The students of the department get into the industry through placements majorly and there is a high inclination towards entrepreneurship and research. The department is supported by a large alumni group. Students are introduced to global challenges and encouraged to take up projects in this direction.
The Placement cell at BMSIT works closely with the placement office at BMSCE to provide wide career opportunities through various reputed companies for campus recruitment. The college now boasts of having produced over 2,400 engineers scattered all across the globe.

What is the eligibility for BE admissions in BMS?
The eligibility is to have a minimum of 45 % marks in 12th in Physics and Maths as a compulsory subject along with optional subjects like Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Computer Science, Electronics and English as Language.
What is the Procedure to apply for B.Tech Lateral Entry?
For B.Tech Lateral Entry, one must write DCET conducted by KEA. Only those who have completed Diploma in Engineering after Class 10th will be eligible for direct admission to 2nd year.
