a) Differentiate between a GIF and a JPEG image.

b) Give two differences between AVI and MPEG file format.

AVI (audio video interleave)
MPEG(moving pictures expert group)
It is a coded file format which requires special software to play the files .
Most widely used media file format which easily plays on all platforms.
AVI is relatively low quality with a limiting frame rate and mono sound.
MPEG files offer extremely high compression rates with little loss of quality.

c) How is the morphing different from animation?

Ans: morphing refers to an animation technique in which one image is gradually turned in to another. On the other hand animation is a process of linking a series of slightly different drawings together to simulate movement.

d) What is the use of <EMBED> tag? Write any three attributes of <EMBED> tag.

Ans: This tag embed directly the video /sound into the page itself and configured to start automatically, repeat over and over, and just play through once. The attributes of <EMBED> are SRC,WIDTH,HEIGHT, LOOP , AUTOSTART etc.
Example <EMBED src=”test.mpg” height=300 width=200>

e) Differentiate between ink bottle tool and paint bucket tool .

Ans: Ink bottle tool used to change the style, thickness , and color of lines Paint bucket tool is used to fill shapes or lines with colors

f) How the arrow tool is different from subselect tool?

Ans: Arrow tool is used to grab, select , and move items on the stage. Sub select tool is used to displays edit points that can be adjusted to change the shape of a line.

g) Differentiate between .FLA and .SWF files.

h) How are the graphic symbols different from button symbols?

i) Differentiate between frame by frame animation and tweening animation.

Starting and finishing points for the object to be animated are given and flash animates it by filling in all the frames in between..
It increases the file size and design time ,
It is faster , easier to edit and has a smaller file size.

j) Differentiate between Regular frame and Key frames.

It mark a change in an object’s properties from the preceding frame.
It is a statics frame.
The first frame on the timeline must be a key frame.

k) Differentiate between Layer and frame.

It is used to maintain separation between objects and help to organise movie content.
It is the smallest unit of change in an object or symbol..
It can be a Normal, Plain Guide, motion Guide or mask layer.
It can be statics ,key frame or blank key frame.

l) Explain the usage of sound panel.

Ans: The sound panel allows editing the properties associated to the currently selected sound object on the timeline. It has four dialogue sound, effect, synchronize and loops.

m) Explain the usage of character panel.

Ans; Text formatting options are available in the character panel, which allows one to change the font type, font size, colour, style and much more.

n) Name the extension of the file created when a Flash movie is published using a Macintosh projector.

Ans: .hqx

o) Name the extension of the file created when a Flash movie is published using a Windows projector

Ans; .exe

p) What is the use of publish preview option? What are the default preview settings?

Ans; This option allows previewing the movie in a browser before publishing . it helps to preview the movie in the default browser. The default preview setting is HTML because an HTML file is required to display a Flash movie in a browser.

q) Which feature of the Flash Publish Settings is used to protect the user from importing your work and use it as their own? Brief on the steps involved.

Ans; The “PROTECT FROM IMPORT” option is used to prevent other users from importing your flash movie into their own projects.
Steps :

  1. Click on the FILE and select PUBLISH SETTING.
  2. Select the FLASH tab and from the OPTIONS check “protect from import”
