Relief on first day, CBSE exams begin with EASY English paper

The class XII students of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) heaved a sigh of relief as the first exam of English proved to be an easy ride. The CBSE board exams for class X and XII commenced on Friday.

Examination at 176 centres in Bihar and Jharkhand was conducted smoothly and no untoward incidents were reported, said S U Sorte, regional head, CBSE Bihar/Jharkhand region. "A team of CBSE officials visited 10 centres in the city, including DAV BSEB Colony, Kendriya Vidyalaya, Bailey Road and Danapur, Army School, Danapur, and DAV, Khagaul," he said adding, "Very few Class 10 students across the region took the examination for first paper - painting - held on Friday."

Tension was writ large on the faces of many students when they entered the examination centers, but at the end of the day most of them feel the paper will increase their overall percentage as scoring high in English seemed possible now.

Rahul, who appeared in the exams from science stream, said, "Since the paper was quite easy, there are probabilities that we can score high marks which will add to the final aggregate percentage."

According to the date-sheet issued by the CBSE, the next exam for class XII will be Physics scheduled for March 5 and the last exam is on April 17. Tanvi Jolly, another student, said that the English exam has always come out as a lengthy paper, but this time it was contrary to the students’ expectations.
The class X students had their first exam of painting on Friday.
