CBSE will no longer issue sample papers for Class 10 and 12 board exams.

The board made the decision after it realized that students were identifying particular areas of the syllabus from past year papers and limited their studies to those sections.

The in last meeting of the governing body of the board the issue was discussed and it was decided that the sample papers will no longer be made available to the senior secondary students. The sample papers have been on print for over 20 years and used to give the pattern of questions that can be expected. In fact many private publishers also publish their own versions of sample papers based on these sample papers as they are very popular among the students.

One positive aspect that may come out of CBSEs decision is that colleges may have to lower cut-offs. Top colleges have extremely high cut-offs owing to high scores in Class 12 exams.
