Healthcare and fashion designing are among the new professional courses that the CBSE plans to introduce for classes XI and XII soon.

The subjects will be launched with certification from the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) for healthcare and National Institute of Fashion Design (NIFT) for the fashion design course.

"Certification from the relevant industry body for professional courses is the crucial requirement for its acceptance by schools," Shashi Bhushan, Head of Department of CBSE’s EDUSAT, told PTI here today.

He said it was for this reason that the new financial markets stream has drawn a positive response from 250 schools across India.

Speaking at the launch of the teachers training programme for the financial markets course, Bhushan said, "our financial markets course offers a joint certification from CBSE and the National Stock Exchange (NSE)."

The NSE certification will be given after a student clears at least one of three modules and joint certification will be awarded after a student passes all three modules.

Bhushan said the CBSE’s existing automobile engineering and nursing courses were not successful as they did not have joint certification with a relevant organisation.

Bhushan inaugurated the week-long training module at the institute of CBSE’s official training partner, BLB Institute of Financial Markets.

The new stream being introduced by CBSE for classes XI and XII in the coming academic session will have a 40 per cent practical component that will include simulated stock trading.
