At least 25,000 students of CBSE schools in the state will have to wait for a few more days for their HSC results. CBSE is likely to declare the Class 12 results after May 20, though no date has been announced officially so far. Meanwhile, the admission process for degree

classes has commenced in arts and science colleges. CBSE students who are desperate not to lose out on seats are buying application forms for admission for degree courses.

Every year, several non-state board students find that students of the state board corner degree seats as they have the advantage of seeking admission early. Meanwhile, a few reputed arts and science colleges in the city are expected publish their first list of selected candidates next week.

In Madurai CBSE students are from the Mahatma School and Kendriya Vidyalaya’s Narimedu and Thiruparankundram campus. When contacted C Muthaiah, principal, Kendriya Vidyalaya, Narimedu, said the late announcement of results is a concern for parents too. "The tentative date for CBSE Class 12 results is May 26. Anxious parents are concerned as arts and science colleges in the city have already started admission," he said.

Although, colleges have instructed students to apply for courses of their choice, students and parents wonder how colleges can allot them seats once they have prepared the list. However, parents are hopefully sending applications, said R Manikandan, an aggrieved parent.

Meanwhile, CBSE students want the authorities of the arts and science college to postpone the release of the list of selected students until their results are out or at least reserve some seats
