Joint Entrance Examination JEE (Main) - 2016

In order to appear in JEE (Main) and JEE (Advanced) 2016, the candidates are required to apply only online as per procedure detailed below2.

Applying Online and Submission of Application

The online submission of particulars, uploading of scanned photograph, signature and thumb impression may be made at JEE (Main) website. The candidates should supply all the required details while filling up the online form. On submission of details, a Acknowledgement Page with Application No. shall be generated.

Candidates are required to take printout of Acknowledgement Page and keep it for reference. The Acknowledgement Page is not required to be sent to JEE (Main) Secretariat (please refer point no. 10 of Important Instructions on page 3). The application fee payment can be made:

(a) by credit/debit card, or

(b) by depositing fee in cash in the Syndicate/Canara/ICICI/HDFC bank through e-challan generated during the online filling of application form.

Instructions for Applying Online

Before filling up the application form the candidate should have a scanned image of his/her photograph, signature and left hand thumb impression (right hand thumb in case the candidate do not have left hand thumb or any finger if both thumbs are not there). These scanned images are to be uploaded during the submission of application form. The photograph should be colour or b/w (but clear contrast) with name of the candidate and date of taking the photograph printed on it as shown below It should be without cap or goggles. Spectacles are allowed. Polaroid photos are not acceptable. Candidates with unclear photograph are liable to be rejected. Candidates may keep 6-8 identical photographs in reserve for use at the time of entrance examination, Seat Allocation Process and Admission.

The information given in the first column of the following table will be asked in the Online Application form. The instructions to fill up the form have been given in the second column.

a) Select the year of passing class 12th as 2015 and enter the
roll number, name of the board in the first step of the
application form. In the second step of application form
select ‘yes’ in the column – appearing for improvement
b) Select the year of appearing class 12th as 2016 and fill the
remaining form correctly.
After declaration of result of improvement examination, there
will be option on the website to provide the correct roll
number of class 12 in which candidate’s result is better.
The candidates passed class 12th in 2014 and appeared for
improvement in 2015 in five subjects should select the year in
which their performance is better.

Note: The candidate should enter the above details correctly because some of the information in the application form will be taken from the data of concerned board.

Additional Information for Candidates for JEE (Advanced) - 2016

The candidates who are declared eligible for JEE (Advanced) – 2016 will have to again register later on at the JEE (Advanced) website after the declaration of the JEE (Main)-2016 score. They may note that it is compulsory to appear in both the papers of JEE (Advanced) - 2016 to be eligible for admission to IIT.
