2. Elimination by equating:

Let us consider a system of equations:

From equation (1) we get

and from eq. (2) we get

----------------- (4)

From (3) and (4) we get

or, 12+36x = 45+25x

or, 11x = 33

or, x = 3

Putting x = 3 in (3) we get

= 20/5

= 4
